Does upwork work?

Thank you so much for visiting my site, if there is anything you want to add, feel free to leave a comment below. I try to keep all my reviews up to date as possible. So without further ado, here is my upwork review.

Upworks was started in 2003 when two companies merged, odesk and elance. As a total, they have over 8 million registered users, so they must be doing something right.

This site is a great place to earn extra bucks if you think yourself good at “writing content”. I’ve used their service a few times and have no complaints. Very hard to build a lasting income from freelancing, though.

Freelancing is where you offer your work to someone who needs it. Most of the time these clients are people or companies that have money and can afford to pay you to make content for their websites.

After you sign up you can immediately look for jobs you want to apply for and wait for the employer to contact you. Sometimes they may contact you while most of the time you willdownload-23 need to spend time applying to contract requests.

When starting out, you will have no reputation and will need to apply to entry level contracts with under 90% success rate. Once you get reputation from clients, you can apply to better-paying contracts.

the great short term income
They find clients for you
Real-time chat feature

Your building their content, not yours
You deal with several different clients with different opinions
upwork takes 5% to 20% of your income plus PayPal’s fee.
Inconstant pay

Upworks are for those who are either looking for extra cash and have extra time to give. Making a full-time income from upworks is very hard, due to their fees with PayPal fees. It is possible, but from my standpoint, I don’t see as very likely.

They have a very large network of freelancers on this site that provide help in terms of blog sites. You will find a getting started the blog where you will learn a lot about what you need to do to get started.

You have to go through a few loops before actually contacting someone, I’m at this moment still waiting on a response for my question.  According to reviews, the level of support from upworks has gone done so I’m not expecting a quick response.

Becoming a freelancer for upworks is free, though there is a 5% to 20% upwork fee on contracts excepted. download-26

This site is very legit, just very hard to make good money in. Check out my review on Wealthy Affiliate, it is also free to start and in my opinion, helps you build something for yourself that will last.

“Here’s another comprehensive review of Upwork. It talks about how it operates, what are some of the pitfalls and how to avoid them so you can hire top talent for your business.”

  1. Hello Nathan
I used to work with Elance before it became Upworks.
I have to say that I made quite a decent income from it.
Of course you have to get yourself known as a producer of quality writing before this happens.
This is understandable. After all if you wanted something done and expected good quality work done for the money you would pay out you wouldn’t want to go to an unknown, would you?

    1. Absolutely, it’s nice to hear from someone who did make a decent income from upworks.

I had trouble up with upworks because everyone had a different idea of what was good, your job isn’t make something that you think is good, your job is to make something that they think is good, either you fought them or your conformed to their standard of performance.

  2. I’ve been hearing a lot about these sites, even before they have merged. When they were just oDesk and eLance, a lot of my friends are already working there. I even have a cousin who earns full time income working with clients in oDesk.

It is only now that I learned about the merger. I thought, it’s only oDesk that’s responsible for the creation of Upwork. I thought, oDesk just changed name and I wondered why. Thanks for this article of yours, now I know why.

I have a question: Do you think it is possible to get real fixed job participating Upwork?

    1. I have not heard of it, if it is, it’s very difficult. Because your double charged, upworks takes money out and then paypal takes money out. So your not left with much and you would have to do a whole lot of work to make it work.
