Product Name: Discovery Toys
Overall Ranking: 3 out of 10
Owners: Jerry Salerno
Before I begin, I want to let you know that since mlms don’t offer affiliates any comissions, I don’t get a dime for doing reviews on mlm opportunities. They want people to buy into their opportunities before allowing them to offer it to others.
There is just not enough of me for all of the mlm companies out there 🙂
About this company
According to Wikipedia, Discovery Toys was founded by early childhood educator, Lane Nemeth, in 1978 with a $5,000 family loan. By 1982, the company had $4.6 million in revenue and 2,500 sales “consultants.”
Nemeth grew the company to 100 million in revenue before selling to AVON in 1997 who in turn sold it to it to a private investor group in 2002. The company is currently owned by Jerry Salerno.
I am quite impressed with the products that Discovery Toys have to offer. Being a former school teacher myself, I can say I would have made a lot of use out of them.
They specialize in educational toys that range from birth to 8 years old. The toys are also used for kids that have been diagnosed with any mental disabilities such as autism, Asperger’s and mental retardation.
One thing that caught my eye was their lifetime guarantee which is invaluable to anyone who teaches or takes care of kids. You can imagine the abuse toys go through at day cares and school districts, remember Toy Story 3? That was certainly a Toys worst nightmare.wrong use of toy
For the Parents of the Mentally disabled, that toys is probably going to be used throughout the lifetime of that child’s life. This is probably one of the most important and favorable aspect of their toys.

Can you buy them at a cheaper price?
I asked that question as well and the answer is yes and no. Yes you can buy them at a cheaper price, but the quality is worse and they don’t offer a lifetime guarentee. If your looking for something that will last, Discovery Toys is where you should buy them.
The Money Making Opportunity
I’ve already established that they have a good product, some people get in to this opportunity just for the discount which is fine. This MLM is centered around a party-based approach, the party approach is much like the tuberware parties that people used to have back in the day of door to door selling.
The distriputor actually acts as the host of a party, which involve giving a presentation and showing off a lot of the Toys.
There is a challenge here that you have to consider. You can either show them the catalog full of toys or actually buy them yourself and show them off that way. You can imagine the catalog approach would not go over very well, given the fact that people can pick up a catalog themselves and go over it.
So by showing off physical toys, your going to need to buy them yourself. If you a single teacher or parent, that might not be too bad. You might have to buy extra because stealing it from little jimmy probably won’t go over very well.
In an MLM, this is going to be a constant cycle because sometimes you might buy something that you will never use except to show off. Buying a product at a discount isn’t a good deal, it’s just the cost of doing business. If you don’t consider what your doing a business, you just might end of losing more than you spend.
MLM vs Affiliate Marketing
MLM’s are made to be difficult and will often tell their members that it’s only because they aren’t working hard enough, sounds like my last boss if you know what I mean. There is a better way in my opinion to make money and that is through affiliate marketing.
In Affiliate Marketing, you have more freedom to run your business the way you want to. By building a website for free on a host for free ( Yeah that is possible, check out my review of WA) You can create reviews of your favorite toys online and every time someone takes your recommendation, you get a commission off it.
Sounds a lot better then hosting expensive parties doesn’t it and plus it’s free, who knew.
They have been around since 1978
Professional training and support
selling is limited to hosting parties
You can’t use their brand on social medias
It is very hard to make money
WHO IT IS FOR
It is for those experience MLM markerters out there, though I can’t recommend it to any beginners just trying to learn this online marketing thing.
They offer training and support, I personally haven’t heard any good reviews on their training. Meaning like most mlms, they depend on the sponsers to provide the support, of course who’s going to trained the sponsers. Monkey lead monkey.
To become a sponser, it costs 49 dollars. That gives you the ability to sell the products, you will need to spend your own money if you going to want toys to show off to other people in parties.
I have to admit Discovery Toys have a great product line and I would recommend them if all you are looking for is great toys. They opportunity however does not look very good.
Thank you so much for visiting my site, if you don’t have an affiliate website, check out my review on Wealthy Affiliates, a community that pays it forward and believes in the ones they serve.
